The Dylan paternity mystery on The Bold and the Beautiful is still unsolved. As of late September 2026, no episode, CBS synopsis or casting announcement has named the father of Melissa "Miss" Dylan, played by Sydney Bullock. Every name you have seen online is fan speculation.
What has changed is the pressure. Dylan's mother, Darcy Dylan, played by Kelly Sullivan, is now in Los Angeles. That puts the one person who knows the answer in the middle of the Forrester and Spencer families.
What Is Actually Confirmed About Dylan's Past
Dylan first appeared in June 2024 as a preschool art teacher. She was pulled into Luna Nozawa's scheme when Luna held her at gunpoint to lure Steffy Forrester into a trap. Dylan later hit and killed Luna with her car by accident.
After that, Electra Forrester and Will Spencer found out Dylan was homeless. They gave her a room at Will's beach house and helped her get a job at Forrester Creations. Her feelings for Will grew from there, which caused tension with Electra.
In May 2026, the show revealed that Remy Pryce is Dylan's cousin. That was the first time Dylan's family history was treated as a real story. Speaking to TV Insider, Bullock said at the time that she wanted to learn where Dylan came from and why she makes the choices she does.
Who Is Darcy Dylan?
Darcy is Dylan's mother and the key to the whole mystery. TV Insider first reported Kelly Sullivan's casting, noting that she started filming on August 4. Darcy made her first appearance on August 27, 2026.
Soap fans know Sullivan from two other big roles. She played Kate Howard on General Hospital from 2011 to 2014, and Sage Warner on The Young and the Restless from 2014 to 2016. She was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for both parts.
Here is everything the show has shared so far about Dylan's father. According to how Sullivan has described the backstory, he left when Dylan was very young. Darcy then raised her alone, and the two moved often with very little money. There is no name, job or face attached to him yet.
The Leading Dylan Paternity Theories
Because B&B loves a surprise parent, fans have filled the gap with suspects. The table below lists the names that come up most across fan forums and trade commentary. Every row is speculation, and none has been confirmed on screen.
| Suspect | Why fans pick him | The big problem | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thorne Forrester | Eric and Stephanie's son, and off the canvas since late 2023 | Dylan and RJ Forrester got close in June 2026 | Speculation |
| Bill Spencer | A history of affairs and hidden children | Dylan would be Will's half sister | Speculation |
| Storm Logan | Katie's late brother and a Logan with a secret past | He died in 2008, so any reveal would have to happen without him | Speculation |
| A Genoa City figure | Darcy mentioned spending time in Wisconsin | This could just be a nod to Sullivan's Y&R years | Speculation |
| Nick Marone | Floated on Reddit as a Marone link to the Forresters | The character has been away from the show for years | Speculation |
The Thorne Forrester Theory
Thorne is the name fans mention most. Thorne Forrester is Eric and Stephanie's biological son. His only established child, Aly, died in 2015. A secret daughter would give that branch of the family a future.
The obvious objection is RJ. Soap Opera Magazine pointed out that Ridge's biological father is Massimo Marone, not Eric. That means Ridge and Thorne are half brothers through their mother. If Thorne were Dylan's father, she and RJ would be half first cousins. That is uncomfortable, but a much smaller problem than many fans assume.
The Spencer and Logan Theories
A Bill Spencer reveal would make things far messier. Dylan would be Will's half sister while the two of them are dating. Our read is that the show is unlikely to take its young couple in that direction, because it would end the romance rather than make it more complicated.
The Storm Logan theory is the most emotional option. Storm was Katie's older brother, and after his death in 2008, Katie received his heart. If Storm were Dylan's father, Dylan would be Katie's niece and Will's cousin. That would also turn Katie's campaign against her into a family tragedy. Storm already has one surprise child, Flo, so fans argue there is precedent.
Why Katie Makes the Mystery Matter
The paternity question only matters because of Katie Logan Spencer, played by Heather Tom. For weeks, Katie has treated Dylan as a threat to Will. According to Soap Opera Magazine, she even told Dylan she had to meet her mother before Will could get a blessing.
That demand backfired. It brought Darcy to town, and Darcy has since told Dylan she does not need Katie's approval to be with Will. Soaps.com has described their dynamic as a clash of parenting styles, with Darcy the supportive mother and Katie the disapproving one.
The rivalry keeps building. CBS previews for the week of September 28 show Will defending his feelings for Dylan while Katie puts her next plan into action. On October 1, Will warns Dylan about Katie's demands. The next day, Hope and Katie have it out.
Why This Paternity Setup Works
Here is our analysis of why the writers are taking their time. A surprise parent only lands if the audience already cares about the child. Dylan spent two years as an outsider with no family, then got a cousin, then a mother. Each new relative made the missing father feel bigger, so the reveal will seem earned rather than random.
The mystery also flips Katie's role. Katie's case against Dylan is that she is a nobody who latched on to Will. If Dylan turns out to be a Forrester or a Logan, that case falls apart overnight. The mother who looked down on her would have to face her as family. Soaps tend to hit hardest when a character's own snobbery comes back at them, and our read is that this story is heading there.
Casting points in the same direction. Darcy is on contract, according to fan-maintained cast lists, rather than a short visit. That suggests the show plans to keep her around for the fallout, not just for one reveal episode. We would still treat any claim about when the answer arrives as speculation until CBS confirms it.
What the Answer Could Cost the Show
There is a real risk in choosing an off-screen father. Soap Opera Magazine noted that Thorne has no return on the books. Daytime rarely builds a big paternity reveal around an actor who has not been booked. If the father never appears, the payoff may feel hollow.
The Wisconsin hint is the wild card. Soaps.com noticed that Darcy mentioned spending a lot of time there, and fans immediately thought of Genoa City. Our speculation is that a sister-soap connection would be the boldest choice, because it would link Dylan's story to The Young and the Restless. It could just as easily be an inside joke about Sullivan's time as Sage.
How to Follow the Dylan Story
You do not need two years of backstory to jump in. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS, and the official CBS Bold and the Beautiful page has recent episodes. Watch three things: Darcy's scenes with Katie, Will's loyalty and any slip about Darcy's past.
For the bigger picture, our B&B fall 2026 preview on Katie, Brooke and Steffy covers the family politics around Will. Our Bold and the Beautiful comings and goings tracker records Sullivan's arrival and any casting that could point to the father. For weekly teasers, check our soap spoilers hub.
We will update the Minisma Bold and the Beautiful hub once CBS confirms a name. Until then, every theory here is fair game and none of them is fact.
