Who is Dominic Marino? He is the secretive Italian billionaire at the heart of the biggest mystery on Days of Our Lives, and as of October 2026 viewers have only seen him in a photograph. Characters suspect he is the secret son of the late Stefano DiMera and Marlena Evans Black, but the show has not confirmed that.
This guide pulls every clue into one place. It separates what has aired from what reporters and fans are guessing. It also explains why the story is built this way and how to jump in if you only started watching this fall.
Who Is Dominic Marino? The Short Version
On screen, Dominic is described as a wealthy Italian businessman with a hedge fund. He is an old school friend of Dante Vitali, who is engaged to Sami. The show has linked him to Stefano through objects, a photograph and the actions of Rita, who stayed loyal to Stefano after his death.
No character has said for certain who his parents are. Marlena has asked the question out loud, and the writers have kept the answer hidden. That gap is the engine of the whole story.
The Clues That Built the Mystery
Dominic arrived in Salem as a name, not a person. The clues came in a steady drip over several months, and each one added a layer. Here is how they stack up in order.
The Buyer of the Kiriakis Estate
According to Soaps.com, Xander first mentioned Dominic as an eccentric Italian billionaire ready to buy the Kiriakis estate if Philip lost a high-stakes poker game. The family was heading toward bankruptcy, so the stakes felt real. Nobody in Salem had heard the name before.
That was a smart opening move. A rich stranger who threatens a family home is an easy threat for viewers to grasp. It also gave the show a reason to keep him offscreen.
Dante Vitali, the Old Friend
Dante, Sami's fiancé, said he had lost touch with Dominic. Soaps.com reported that the two were in fact working together. In that outlet's account, they steered Philip's poker game so he would win enough to repay EJ's loan.
This tells viewers that Dominic prefers to act through other people. He never needs to appear in Salem while his friends move the pieces for him.
The House in Italy and the Photograph
Chad and Belle followed their chess set puzzle to Dominic's home in Italy, and EJ joined them. The Soap Scene reports that they found cigars, music tastes and an identical chess set, all of which recalled Stefano. They also found a photograph of Stefano with a young boy, with the year 1992 written on the back.
The Soap Scene also notes that Rita picked up Stefano's ring after EJ left it behind, and that the ring later turned up with Dominic. It adds that Marlena pointed out that Marino and DiMera can both be read as meaning "of the sea". That could be coincidence, but on this show coincidences rarely stay coincidences.
The Question Marlena Asked
Soap Hub's preview for the week of September 28 to October 2 said Marlena confronted Rita and asked whether Dominic is her son. The scene made the theory explicit for the first time. It did not answer it.
The October 20 Photo
On Tuesday, October 20, Dante met Sami's parents, Roman and Marlena, and showed them a photo of Dominic. Soaps.com reports that he commented on a resemblance to Marlena. Both Soaps.com and Parade say the man in the photo appears to be British soap actor Kyle Pryor.
Parade adds that Pryor's UK agency lists the part on his résumé. His earlier soap credits include Home and Away, Hollyoaks and Emmerdale. Treat the casting as strongly reported, but not formally announced in the sources we checked.

Why a Villain Nobody Sees Works So Well
Daytime stories usually spend their first week introducing a character in person. Days has done the reverse with Dominic. By keeping him offscreen for months, the writers let each clue grow in the audience's imagination.
Our read is that this approach protects the eventual reveal. A character who has been built up for months has to arrive with real impact, so the writers have set a high bar for themselves. If the performance matches the build-up, the payoff will feel earned.
The photo is the next step in that plan. It gives viewers a face without giving them a voice or a motive. A photo is also safer than a surprise cameo, because the show controls exactly what the audience learns.
The Advance Man Template: Dante, Tony and Stefano
Soaps.com argued that Dante is playing the role Tony DiMera once played for Stefano. In that comparison, an agent arrives first, becomes familiar through a family tie, and prepares the ground for a feared figure. Dante is tied to Salem through Sami and her daughter Sydney.
We think that comparison is useful because it explains the pacing. In this template, the advance man holds the story together while the main villain stays away. Dante gives the writers weeks of material with a sympathetic face, so the dangerous character can wait.
It also explains why Dante's loyalties are the most interesting question for the weeks ahead. Soap fans will be watching whether he turns against his friend. If he does, the arrival of Dominic himself becomes a bigger event.
What the Marlena Question Costs Her
The Soap Scene points out that Marlena was presumed dead after a plane crash on April 23, 1987, and did not return to Salem until 1991. For more than four years, much of her life was controlled by Stefano. She has said she does not remember all of it, and may not want to.
That history is why the parentage question matters so much. If Dominic is her child, the reveal would turn a gap in her memory into a living person. The same outlet suggests Dr. Rolf, Stefano's scientist, could be the explanation. It points to Rolf's 2002 experiments involving Rex and Cassie, with Marlena as surrogate, as a precedent. That is a theory and the show has not said it.
Our read is that the question is more powerful unanswered. While it stays open, every scene between Marlena, Rita and EJ carries extra tension. Once it is answered, the story has to move on to consequences.
What Casting a Soap Veteran Signals
Hiring an actor with years of soap experience for a role this heavily set up suggests the production expects a long run. That is our speculation, not reporting. Soap work demands daily pace, big emotional scenes and the stamina to carry a long storyline.
Soaps.com guessed that Dominic will appear in person in November, near the show's anniversary. The network has not announced a date. Soaps still tend to save large reveals for November, but treat any arrival date as a guess until Peacock confirms it.
Where the Reporting Disagrees
Outlets are not fully aligned on how solid the casting is. Soaps.com used cautious language and allowed that Dante could simply be showing a random photo. Parade said the episode appeared to confirm the casting and cited the actor's agency listing.
Parentage is also unsettled. Reporters describe Marlena as a possible mother, and fan posts online float other family trees. We found no network confirmation for any of them, so we do not treat them as fact.
How to Follow Dominic Marino if You Are New to Days of Our Lives
You only need a handful of names. Stefano DiMera was the legendary villain, played by the late Joseph Mascolo. Marlena Evans Black, played by Deidre Hall, is the woman he held captive. EJ DiMera is Stefano's son and the current family power broker. Dante Vitali and Dominic Marino are the two newcomers driving the mystery.
Days of Our Lives streams new episodes on weekdays on Peacock. You can check the official Peacock page for Days of Our Lives to find episodes. For the show's long history, Wikipedia's Days of Our Lives entry gives a good overview.

Soaps.com's comparison of Dominic to Stefano is the reporting behind the advance man idea above. We will update this guide as new episodes air through the rest of October 2026.
