Coronation Street spoilers follow from Tuesday’s episode (February 4), which is available to watch now on streaming service ITVX but hasn’t yet aired on ITV1.
Coronation Street has aired another big clue linking David Platt to the dramatic fire at his family home.
David was confronted by his sister Sarah in Tuesday’s episode (February 4) after she uncovered damning evidence suggesting that he’d planned the blaze himself.
Someone posted a burning rag through the letterbox at No.8 this week, causing a fire that threatened the lives of Max Turner and Toyah Habeeb.
Tuesday’s episode saw Max and Toyah both get rushed to hospital after being pulled from the burning house.
Both were still alive, but Max seemed to be facing an uncertain future. Doctors put the teenager in a coma and warned his devastated family that he was in a critical condition.
As the Platts anxiously awaited further news at the hospital, Sarah borrowed David’s phone to make a call.
Sarah was stunned to catch a glimpse of David’s internet search history, which revealed that he’d been researching house fires ahead of time.
When David protested that he could explain, Sarah replied: “You can explain how your recent searches include ‘arson’ and ‘house insurance’? My nephew’s fighting for his life in there.”
David insisted: “I went online, I did a little search on how to potentially set fire to your house without it looking like arson. But that’s all I did, alright? I just thought about it.”
Corrie fans know that David has been desperate to raise money to pay off gangster Harvey Gaskell after being caught out for stealing from him.
David’s dubious explanation to Sarah came as another major suspect in the mystery appeared to be ruled out.
Tuesday’s episode saw dangerous Logan Radcliffe get hauled in by the police after paying a secret visit to the local undertakers, where he wanted to visit his late brother Mason.
Logan finally confessed to his role in Mason’s murder when he was interviewed by the detectives, but he was quickly put in the clear over the fire. This came despite Logan’s recent work carrying out Harvey’s orders to target the Platt family.
After taking a call at the hospital, David’s wife Shona told him: “That was Kit. He’s been in with Logan. [Logan’s] admitted to stabbing Mason but he’s denying any involvement in the fire. Apparently he’s got a solid alibi, which means whoever did start it is still out there…”
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
