Doctor Who star Anita Dobson has confirmed that the mystery surrounding her character will be solved very soon.
Mrs Flood, played by Dobson, was introduced in the 2023 Christmas special titled The Church on Ruby Road. At first, the character appeared to be little more than Ruby Sunday’s (Millie Gibson) curious neighbour.
However, as the episode ended viewers were shocked to see Mrs Flood recognise the Doctor’s (Ncuti Gatwa) TARDIS, and have been left wondering about what the mysterious reveal could mean.
Luckily for Doctor Who fans, all burning questions regarding Mrs Flood will be answered soon as she returns for the upcoming instalment. “By the end of this series that’s coming up now, you will find out who she is and what she’s about,” Dobson told RadioTimes.
The actor also addressed theories about the character, hinting that some fans have almost cracked the case.
“I think some of the theories are really cool, because I’ve done a couple of Comic Cons, and the fans come up and tell me what they think,” she said.
“Some of them have been really close to the truth. And some of them come up with these, you think, ‘wow, that’s really good.’ So I hope [showrunner Russell T Davies] is listening in, and I really hope to do more, because I have loved my journey with it. It’s been fantastic. I love Mrs Flood.”
As for what’s to come for Mrs Flood, Dobson was careful not to reveal any big secrets for the next season. However, she did tease incredible costumes for her character, suggesting some exciting adventures ahead.
“I get to wear some really cool outfits. I’m big on clothes!” she added.
Doctor Who airs on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Classic episodes of Doctor Who are available on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
