Peacock has unveiled a first look at Mamma Mia! star Amanda Seyfried in the new crime thriller series Long Bright River.
Along with the newly released images, which showcase Seyfried as a police officer named Mickey, Peacock has confirmed that the show will premiere on Thursday, March 13 in the US (via Deadline).
Based on Liz Moore’s 2020 bestseller of the same name, the upcoming suspense thriller series also sees Seyfried take on executive producing duties.
Long Bright River follows Seyfried’s Mickey, a police officer on patrol in a Philadelphia neighbourhood which has been ravaged by the opioid crisis. When a series of murders happen in the area, Mickey soon realises that her personal history might be tied to the case.
The newly released images give a glimpse at Seyfried in the role and the actor can be seen sporting her police uniform while undertaking a number of grim tasks.
In one of the first-look pictures, Mickey appears to be in a morgue where she is looking under a white sheet at a body.
Starring alongside Seyfried are Ashleigh Cummings, Callum Vinson, Nicholas Pinnock and John Doman. They are joined by Britne Oldford, Matthew Del Negro, Dash Mihok, Harriet Sansom Harris, Perry Mattfeld and Patch Darragh.
Nikki Toscano and Moore are on board to write and executive produce, with Toscano serving as showrunner on the series. Toscano will also direct, with Hagar Ben-Asher serving as director and executive producer on the first and fifth episodes.
Previously speaking in a joint statement, Moore and Toscano said: “We are thrilled that Amanda Seyfried will lead this series about how those initially perceived as victims can band together to regain their power.
“Moore’s family history and her work with harm-reduction and community-service organizations in Philadelphia informed the series, which aims to portray with compassion the lives of those struggling with addiction and the family members who love them.”
