Gogglebox favourite sparks fan concern with hospital photo

Gogglebox star Tom Malone has shared a photo from his hospital bed.

The TV favourite posted a photo of himself in hospital on Instagram, where he had a nappy on his upper arm covering a wound.

He captioned the photo: “Woke up with a nappy as a dressing ,was caught off guard when the nurse said she had to change my nappy! Grateful to our NHS, top notch care. Thank you, home now !!!!”

Tom didn’t give any more information about how he landed in hospital but his comments were flooded with well wishes from fans and friends.

Tom and his wife Julie have been Gogglebox mainstays since 2014, first appearing with their sons Shaun and Tom Jr. The couple celebrated 32 years of marriage last October.

Their son Tom Jr. left Gogglebox in early 2021, going on to appear on The Real Dirty Dancing, Celebrity Mastermind and Celebrity Coach Trip.

Following his exit from Gogglebox, Tom revealed to Digital Spy what he’d miss most about the show.

“It was nice to sit down with my family and just watch TV,” he said at the time. “When you move out as an adult, you don’t the time to do the simple things like that often and Gogglebox gave us a reason to keep doing it.”

He also spoke about how his experience on the show changed how he views TV, saying: “Once you realise how much goes into filming a TV show it makes you appreciate how hard all the people behind the scenes work to make these shows happen.

“The finished product that we see is just the tip of the iceberg.”

Tom recently went Instagram official with his new girlfriend Jahmiah Simpson, sharing pictures from a festive night out back in December.

Gogglebox airs and streams on Channel 4.
